Values Exercise Tool
Values are beliefs that we use to give meaning to our lives. They explain what is "good" or "bad," "right" or "wrong," "just" or "unjust." Differing values don’t have to cause conflict, but sometimes they do.
Tension and conflict usually arise when a person or people attempt to force one set of values on another person or group of people.
While it is of no use to try to change value and belief systems of your colleagues--or even family members for that matter--it can, however, be helpful to support another's expression of their values and beliefs as a means of acknowledging how they play out in our relationship with them, and what they trigger in us that causes friction (at worst) and happiness (at best).
